Dear family and friends,
As a first-generation Korean immigrant to the United States of America, my grandfather instilled within me a heart for the politically and economically marginalized in Asia throughout my youth. This heart has led me down a transformative journey with many twists and turns, but I only have been able to work within the borders of the United States.
This year, however, God has called me to serve in Asia. From October 28th-31st, a team of 11 from Jubilee Church will be serving fieldworkers in Asia as retreat counselors. I, specifically, will be serving the youth (middle school and high school students). As this opportunity is my first time being able to serve outside the boundaries of my home country, I am both incredibly excited and a tad anxious. I pray that God will grant me courage and guidance to help the youth experience the greater depths of the retreat's theme, "Belonging."
If your hearts also seek to help the youth in Asia, I would love to invite each of you to support our team. Our brothers and sisters labor year-round in rocky soil, and the ambience in many Asian countries are not the most accommodating for fieldworkers. Please pray for them so that they may find strength during times of weakness, whether spiritual, mental, or physical. Our team also needs to raise $700 per person, or ~$7,000 in total. The finances raised will go towards visas, transportation, and supplies needed for the retreat; surplus donations will be used to fund other projects. Please consider supporting our team with $10-$20 donations. I know not all of you may be able to help financially, but prayer is just as important. :-)
