Hello, everyone!
I am Janice, and I’m excited to share that I am embarking on a deeply meaningful journey to Kandy, Sri Lanka, with a team from Jubilee Church this summer from July 29 to August 6. We will be partnering with the Ceylonese Evangelistic Association (CEA) to support, encourage, and uplift local pastors, churches and communities.
THE HEART OF THE MISSION: JESUS LOVES ME
Our mission is anchored in a beautiful, foundational truth: Jesus loves me! Experiencing a love so profound and unconditional naturally compels me to step out of my comfort zone and share it. Heading to Sri Lanka isn't about bringing something of my own, but rather carrying that very same love to everyone we meet. It’s the driving force behind everything we will do on the ground—a living reminder that no matter where we are in the world, we are all deeply seen, valued and loved by Christ.
We will be serving the next generation through youth and children's programmes, while supporting the incredible local pastors who serve these communities daily. Through tangible, practical service alongside local churches, we want to build lasting relationships and true bridges of hope in Christ.
MY SPIRITUAL JOURNEY
My motivation for joining this mission trip stems from a profound shift in how I view service and God's timing. As some of you may know, my work was in development and humanitarian aid with international organisations. Having spent nearly a decade working professionally for vulnerable communities, I initially rationalized that I had already "done my part" and refrained from taking part in church missions.
However, God persistently countered my hesitation and my excuses. He showed me that a church mission is entirely different from a professional assignment; it is a unique invitation to see the world through His eyes and grow in His love. I am motivated to go to Sri Lanka because I want to serve not out of career obligation, but from a place of pure spiritual devotion, finally saying "yes" wholeheartedly to where He is leading.
I have always believed that we are called to love our neighbours—both near and far. This trip is a chance for me to put that belief into direct action, offering my time, skills and heart to serve a community looking toward a brighter future. But to get there, I cannot do it alone. I need a team behind me.
