This fall, I have the opportunity to join a mission trip to Sri Lanka with our church. While our team will be leading a children’s program, youth rally, and youth leadership training, my heart is not simply to teach but to share life together. We will bring some of the tools and approaches we use in children’s ministry, but equally important, we will be learning from the local leaders — their creativity, faith, and unique ways of discipling children.
I see this as a two-way exchange: we hope to leave encouragement and resources that can serve their ministry, while also returning with fresh insights and practices that can strengthen our own children’s ministry back home. In this way, the trip is not about us giving and them receiving, but about God’s people growing together as one body in Christ.
I go with humility, knowing our time there is short, but trusting that God uses even brief encounters to plant seeds of friendship, faith, and renewal. I believe that through this mutual sharing, both communities, theirs and ours, will be blessed.
I would deeply appreciate your prayers as we travel, serve, and learn together. Pray that Christ’s love would be evident in all we do, that the children would experience His joy, and that the church in both Sri Lanka and here at home would be strengthened by this partnership.
