Heartland Summer Mission Trip 2016

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19

Hi old friends, school friends, university friends, new friends, family and work colleagues!

As you know I’m in Korea, this is my third year here and I still love it.   My life is really busy at the moment working at school.  I teach Kindergarten but we teach them the grade one British curriculum.  I love my little class of 16 and my co teacher.  I’m also doing my Honours Degree in education, specializing in children with barriers to learning. Once the three subjects are done in Feb I’ll be finished yay!

I also found such a great church, Jubilee.  I was on my way to another church one day and a felt such a tugging on my heart to go back to Jubilee (for the second time), so I changed my mind and went.  The sermon and worship were so on point that day.  I haven’t gone anywhere else and I won’t.  It’s a really biblical and missional church and I feel more and more at home each time I go there.

No country, place or person is perfect but there is something so special about this country, this culture and these people.  It was on my heart since about 2009 to come to Korea and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to move here in 2014.  I really believe God was preparing me since 2010 for my time here and for my spiritual journey.  This country has been SO good for my relationship with God and I can’t wait to give back by going on a mission trip to Namyangju to hold a vacation bible school in August.  We’ll be going from the 8th to  the 12th of August.  My team will be ministering to South Korean children by putting on a 3-day vacation bible school for them, and then leading a 2-day creative youth program for the teenagers in the area.

On the surface Korea seems developed and trendy.  The food and fashion are great and people seem happy and polite.  But under the surface there is a lot of heaviness, hurt, depression and pressure from many angles.  It’s very superficial! Beauty standards are high and so are the standards to achieve academically, it is very competitive and most children who don’t live in Seoul, don’t go to the best universities and don’t have the status are deemed by society as lesser because such high value is put on living in Seoul and working for top companies.

A lot of the Elementary students and the youth group of middle school/high school students we will be ministering to are underpriveledged, and/or from broken homes.   Many have been forgotten and left with grandparents as men and women often find it difficult in Korea to remarry if people know they got divorced or have a child.  Some of the children are victims of mental and physical abuse.  These children know that they live in a 'rural' area, may never live in Seoul and will probably be looked down upon and certainly won’t have the opportunity to attend 'the best' universities so that they can work for big companies like Samsung and Hyundai.

Jesus said “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.’’- Mark 9: 36-37

We want to spread the love of Christ and show them the TRUTH, that they are loved and honoured and they are children of the King, no matter what their socio economic background or social status may be.  They have hope, love and direction in JESUS and each one of them is cherished.  He is eternal and nothing of this world can compare to that.  His light will shine when all else fades.

“The spirit of the sovereign Lord is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.  He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. “ –Isaiah 61:1

 Prayer requests:

·      For my heart to be ready and willing to be used by God

·      For my very basic and child like Korean to be utilized.  I hope I can remember a lot of what I’ve learned as kids LOVE it

when expats speak a bit of Korean to them.

·      For our team to bond and for God to connect us supernaturally as only He can

·      For safety, health and protection against spiritual attacks

·      For me to raise many funds for the trip through this platform :)

Would you be willing to partner with my team by giving me any amount you are willing? Any bit definitely helps and just ensures that this project for the children is successful. You can give through this website. Just click on my face! ha

As in nearly every missions trip, money is of great necessity. There are some financial needs that need to be met so we can serve this community for the week. Money will go towards housing, food, activity costs and transportation.

Thank you!  I love you and please get in contact with me soon so we can have a chat and a catch up.  Also send me any prayer requests that are on your heart.

God Bless and Much love Xxx
