Letter of support for Jubilee Summer Missions from Scott Cook

Hi

I know its probably been a long time since we've had a chance to connect, and I hope things are going well for you. I just wanted to write you an email to let you know about some of the great things happening in my life right now.

I've been teaching professionally in Korea about 3 years now and I finally finished my master's in applied linguistics about this time last year. Professionally, things have been going pretty well for me and I'm already looking for new directions and new options that have come up. This semester is winding down and right now everyone's gearing up for the summer festival and a little vacation time. However, another part of my life has been growing too. In my free time, I've been volunteering as a small group leader at my church (Jubilee) and I've also had the chance to get involved in some of the other ministries there like feeding the homeless. Right now, a team of other members and I are getting ready to go on a mission trip to the Korean countryside to work with underprivlidged children, The experiences have been great and for the first time in years I feel like I'm really growing. I'm really excited to see how God is working in places like these that are generally outside my periphery.

This month, July 26th-August 1st, a team of about 15 from Jubilee will be heading to Namyangju, South Korea to hold a Vacation Bible School that will gather 11 afterschool centers and 2 churches together in the area. We will be working with all age groups from Elementary students to High School students. A lot of the children we will be working with are underprivlidged and come from broken homes, and some will be victims of mental and physical abuse. We will be working with the kids in small groups using skits, arts and crafts, games, and other activities throughout the week.

This program will provide an opportunity to meet the physical and spiritual needs of a community that is deperately in need. More than anything, I would value your prayers for our team and those whose lives will be touched by God throuogh us. I believe that God answers prayers, and I'm asking you to pray for safety, good health, smooth travel, and financial support. Just knowing that you will be praying will be praying will give me peace as I go into an unfamiliar place.

Beyond your prayers, if you are led to join me by financially supporting this mission, I would be grateful. Our group needs to raise just over $4,500 to cover the total cost of the trip. We will have to be creative to raise the money, and I want to extend an invitation to you to participate. This is a journey that God has called me to and I would greatly appreciated any level of support you are able to offer.

Again, I really hope things are going well for you. I'd love to hear an update on what's going on in your life if you have the time. I will definitely be praying for you. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this letter, and if you have any questions, please let me know. Take care, and I hope to hear from you soon!

With gratitude,

Scott Cook
