Hello friends and family near and far,
Upon arriving in Korea almost two years ago (!!), God spoke a word unto me as to why He called me here. The word came from the book of Esther (funny, isn't He?) when Queen Esther's cousin spoke to her: "Who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" To this, Esther responded in obedience to God's call and through her obedience, God used her to save His (her) people. These were the words God spoke to me -- that He called me to Korea for such a time as this. He confirmed these words throughout my time here through different situations regarding my relatives, my church community here, and my workplace. And He is once again confirming them by allowing me to partake in a very important camp this summer.
It is a week-long summer camp for South Korean and North Korean refugee youth here in Korea. This camp aims to give the youth a deeper understanding of what true reconciliation and unity looks like amongst them by first teaching them what it means for them to be individually reconciled to God. As they come to know who they are in God, it is our prayer that they will be raised up as future leaders to bring about true unification on the Korean peninsula. This camp is onto its 8th year and its existence alone is a personal reminder for me that God sooo loves the Koreas and that He is all about the ministry of reconciliation.
In turn, I invite you all to come alongside of me in supporting this camp financially and/or in prayer. Each staff member will raise $200 not only to allow for their participation in the camp, but also to give 100% financial support to the North Korean students who will be attending as they are limited in their abilities to fund themselves. Please consider giving as the Spirit leads, but more importantly please join me in praying for the camp. Please pray that God's will be done in each and every single student and staff member and that there is a special covering of protection over the camp so that nothing will come between God and His work.
