China 2010 Summer

Fundraising Completed

Wooseok's trip to China!

Dear whom it may concern

I am sending this letter to you to request your support for my upcoming missions trip to China this coming July.

For my summer vacation I am currently back in South Korea enjoying my time with my family, friends, and – of course – the World Cup while half-heartedly trying to get myself to prepare for my last year in college and what lies beyond. In addition, I have started training with the church that I am part of in Korea, Jubilee Church, for the aforementioned missions trip to China.

The trip itself will last a little over week, and during that week our missions team will be running a summer camp for middle school students. As you may know, China does not look favorably upon Christianity and thus many children grow up without knowing much about Christianity. The school that we are working with provides education for children from kindergarten to high school, but more than that, many of the teachers are believers and use their gift for teaching to establish God-centered relationships with their students. Likewise, although our main goal will be to run the summer camp, the week spent with the students is a great opportunity for the team members and myself to forge relationships with the students and show them, even if not through words, through our actions that there is a God who loves them. One great testimony of God’s favor on this school is that by the time students graduate from the school, over ninety percent are self-professed Christians who have been equipped to be the next generation of leaders in China.

For myself, this trip holds a more personal meaning than perhaps other missions trip that I have been lucky enough to be a part of. Two summers ago, I was first able to go on a missions trip to this school. In that one short week, God revealed to me how deep His heart is for His children. One distinct memory that I hold from that trip is a conversation that I had with a female student. In that conversation, I experienced the emptiness and loneliness that one could feel in a life devoid of relational love. God showed me in that one moment the purpose of our being, and I believe that He will give more this heart to this time around in China.

One lesson that I learned from my last trip to China is to expect great things from God, and attempt great things for God. With great expectations comes the need for strong prayers and preparations, and I ask that you will be praying specifically for:

1) My spiritual walk leading up to missions

2) The unity of the team

3) For the students; that they will have open hearts (and that they will enjoy the camp)

4) And, on a somewhat unrelated note, for my preparations for my future.

Also, if you would like to assist financially for the trip please contact me for additional details or visit http://www.jubilink.com/china-2010-summer. However, more importantly, I would like to humbly ask for your prayers and spiritual support over the next month or so.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, and for your support. If you have any other questions or are interested in specific aspects of the trip, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hope you are enjoying your summer and the World Cup as much as I am. :)

Yours sincerely,

Wooseok Kim
