Cambodia short-term mission support letter

Hello from Seoul, Korea!

Wow, I can’t believe how fast time flies!  I have been in Seoul for nearly 8-months already and the month of June is nearing its end!  I trust that you are doing well and hope to be able to reunite with you once again!

I am writing a support letter regarding a mission outreach that I, along with nine other members from Jubilee Church in Seoul, will be participating in this summer; we will be serving in Cambodia from July 30-August 4.  With all formality set aside, I want to honestly share what is going on in my heart.  This is my first overseas mission outreach and I was initially very excited to finally be able to see God’s people and witness His glory in a different context (I am fascinated and in awe with God’s creation of diverse people, culture, and language)!  However, after I made my decision I realized there are many needs that accompany this short-term mission such as facing the heavy oppression that’s over the people we’ll be serving, full trust and obedience that God will do mighty things during the outreach, and financial support to go out to the mission field.  So it’s been said, there is obviously a financial component that has been burdening my heart for the past three weeks since I made my commitment to go, but I don’t want this to be about that.  I don’t want to wait in anticipation for funds to come through allowing the burden of not having enough to work the fields in Cambodia lifted off, but I want this to be more about the people of Cambodia!  I want to provoke you and stir you up about what’s happening in other parts of the world!  I want you to take a moment and think about the unreached people, the people under oppression, and cry out to the Lord for their salvation and for the spreading of the Gospel in full force, like wildfire!

As I have been preparing and praying for this outreach, I realized that it doesn’t “start” when I land in Cambodia, but it actually began three weeks ago, right when I committed myself to this calling!  I have been blessed beyond measure to pray on behalf of God’s people and I ask that you join me.  Below are some prayer requests.  You can choose to pray for all of them or just a couple, whatever burdens your heart, and I ask that you will continue praying even after the outreach is over.  Please pray for God to powerfully bring revival to the people of Cambodia, for it says in 1 Cor. 3:6-7 “I (Paul) planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.  So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”  Pray with full confidence and dependence on the Lord!

Prayer requests:

[Cambodia]

* For God to fertile the soil of the people in Cambodia.   For the Holy Spirit’s consuming fire to fill the hearts of the Khmer (Kah-my) people and for them to witness the awesome and incomparable love of God.

* For the oppression to be lifted off the Khmer people and for them to experience true freedom in Christ!  Also, for healing, peace, restoration, and revival in the war-torn country.

* Cry out to the Lord to strike down the sex-trafficking industry and to liberate the enslaved children who are suffering injustice and cruelty.

[Outreach teams]

* UNITY - Jubilee’s team, along with 3 US teams.

* For humility, love, obedience, faith and 100% trust in God before, during, and after outreach…to continually be shaped and used for His Kingdom.

* For wisdom when we’re all in Cambodia so we are loving, compassionate and not disrespectful.  Mr. Murthi, an Indian evangelist once stated, “do not bring us the gospel as a potted plant.  Bring us the seed of the gospel and plant it in our soil.”

Philippians 1:6 is a verse God planted in my heart back in 2005 and I desire for it to be fulfilled not only personally, but for all the team members and for the Khmer people.  It states, “being confident in this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it onto completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, as well as partnering with us in prayer for the Khmer people.  If you feel led, I appreciate your financial support, but more than that I pray that we will all be part of this mission, interceding for the Khmer people in one voice declaring for the oppression to cease in Cambodia and for God’s glory to be magnified in that place!

Praying for you all.

In His grace,
Jennifer (Yedi) Park
