Tae's Going to Cambodia

Dear Friends,

Hi!  How have you been?  I can’t believe how time flies, I am going on 7 years in Korea..incredible! It has been a while since we’ve connected, but God has been doing some amazing things in my life that I wanted to share with yall about.

The biggest thing is that Jinny and I gave birth to our baby boy, Lucas Asher!  Yay~   We are so thankful for him and the blessing that he has been to our family. I’m experiencing what unconditional love means on a whole ‘nother level and at the same time I’m humbled to think that the Lord has entrusted us with caring for this child.  Aside from being a new dad, I recently finished my MDIv studies (whoo!~) and I am currently serving at Jubilee church as a worship pastor.  I feel this season I have grown deeper with the Lord to prepare me for new opportunities to minister to my family and to others.

This summer, July 29-Aug. 5, I have the privilege of leading a short term missions team to minister to the young people in Cambodia.  We will be joining one of our missions partners, Bob&Jenny Oh, and their V2R ministry.  I went to Cambodia in 2007 on a short-term trip and I am excited to go back and minister to a country where the Gospel is doing some powerful work.  We will be joining the Cambodia YWAM DTS ministry along with 3 other churches from the States for a massive outreach to the local community in Kampongsom.

To be honest, I initially wasn’t thinking of going on any missions trips this summer.  With the arrival of Lucas, the church staff and I thought it would be best to focus on the family.  This would mean the Cambodia team would go without the leadership of a pastor. I tried to ignore this fact, until Lord spoke to me through the Word. 2 Cor 8:7 says, “But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”  This pierced my heart as I never considered giving to be something to excel at.  But this challenged me to desire to be an excellent giver so that the grace of God can be more evident through my life.  I have much to learn in this area, but I felt called to go to Cambodia and be excellent in giving; in ministry, in finances, and especially this precious time away from the family.  And the Lord confirmed it through Jinny’s prayers, when she told me, “Tae…GO!”

As I go to Cambodia, I ask that you pray for me and our team.  I’ve also been learning how powerful prayer is and how we need to pray with full confidence and dependence on the Lord.

  • Pray that the Lord would transform Cambodia and bring hope to the young people.
  • Pray that the Lord would unite all the missionaries and use us powerfully
  • Pray that the Lord gives me wisdom to lead and watches over our safety & health.

Beyond your prayers, if you are lead to join in financially supporting me, I would be grateful.  The costs to go to Cambodia are inexplicably high, and our total trip will cost 2mil won.  I need to raise 1.2mil won ($1,200) to cover 60% of the trip.  We are doing our best to raise the funds, and I want to extend an invitation to you to join me in learning what it means to excel at giving. To make things easy you can give online at http://www.jubilink.com/cambodia-2012 which accepts Korean & US accounts through PayPal and donations are tax deductible.  This trip is a step of faith and obedience and I appreciate any level of support you are able to offer.

Again, I really hope things are going well for you and I’d love to catch up on what’s going on in your life.  Jinny and I often take prayer walks, and we will definitely be praying for you during them.  Thanks so much for taking the time to read this letter, and if you have any questions, please let me know. Take care, and I hope to hear from you soon!

With much love and gratitude~

Tae Kwon
