INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE MISSION - OSEC FREEDOM PROJECT
Each year, nearly half a million Filipino children are trafficked
to create sexual exploitation material—1 in every 100 children.
Tragically, in many cases, children are trafficked or sold by
their own family members.
Since opening in the Philippines, IJM has arrested 459 suspects,
convicted 277 perpetrators, and rescued 1,618 victims—most of
them minors, some as young as 3 years old. On average, these
children endure two years of abuse before rescue.
The trauma doesn’t end there. With 83% trafficked by parents or
close relatives, many victims feel guilty and believe they
deserved the abuse. They’ve never known love or protection from
adults.
This is why IJM’s Survivor Restoration Program is vital—it
ensures that victims don’t remain victims. IJM social workers
help survivors discover their identity in Christ, make them
feel seen, protected, and loved, and most importantly, help them
understand that what happened to them was never their fault.
The goal of IJM Philippines’ Survivor Restoration Program is for survivors to fully embrace their freedom and regain physical, mental, and spiritual health—so they can be reintegrated into society with dignity and hope.
