November Update

by anonymous
November 14, 2010

God is so good to us! We just arrived back from Seoul this week and we had a wonderful time visiting with everyone. When we left for Seoul we were praying for 3 things: That we would be able to speak at 2 churches, meet with 5 individuals and our support would go up to 50%. We are happy to relate we spoke at 4 churches, met with more people than we can count and our support is at 50%!

We are continuing to support raise now in the States. We are sending out a support letter in 2 weeks and trying to set up one more church visit before the year is out. Please continue to pray that we will be on the field by February.

Thank you guys SO much for your support!!

86% Monthly Support!

by Ryan
April 21, 2011

We are excited to share we are at 86% of our monthly support! This number is combined with our support from Jubilink and our support raised in the States. We are so close! FH requires us to be at 100% to leave for the field, so we are only 14% away from flying to Southeast Asia, which is equivalent to 7 supporters at $100 (110,000 won) a month or 14 supporters at $50 (55,000 won) a month.

We would ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with us by joining our monthly support team. And please pray that the rest of our monthly support is pledged soon so we can get on the ground in Southeast Asia!

A great visit!

Hi everyone! We are back at our house after having a wonderful time with Jubilee in Seoul. We felt so blessed by all the prayers and words of encouragement that were showered on us. We truly felt at home. Thank you for eating with us, sharing with us, and praying with us, and supporting us.

We will be returning to visit again sometime probably in the next 6 months. We would love to visit for Christmas, but we may visit in Spring instead; we are looking at flights, so please pray we can get a good price and spend Christmas in Seoul! Either way we will be back soon! We can’t wait to see you all again, but until then, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and we trust we are in yours as well.

Many Blessings and Thanks,

Ryan and Carolyn

Working full-time!

by Ryan
November 2, 2011

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a while since we’ve seen you last, and we have been busy here. In October we finished our second session of language school (PTL!), and began the transition to working full time. Since then, we have been non-stop busy!

Carolyn is working on various tasks for Food for the Hungry’s internal communications, both for the Phoenix office and for our base here Medan. She is doing a lot of work reporting and organizing the internal side of things. She will also be working in external communications writing blogs, setting up Facebook and Twitter for our work here.

Ryan is going to be incredibly busy in the coming weeks as he is on our Program Design Team. The team is designing a savings and learning group model (in which women from the community gather together and save small amounts of money each week), with which they can coordinate all other projects. For example, when the women gather to save we can offer training on hygiene, Bible studies/discipleship, agricultural training, and education training. In this way we are able to impact the community on a spiritual, economic, physical, and social level simultaneously. Most importantly, it is not 'doing for' the communities, but walking with them. Ryan has lots of charts and designs to explain it, so if you are interested in the technical details, please email and he would be happy to explain it to you!

We are also happy to say that we’re coming to Seoul in March! We bought our tickets and will be visiting March 24-31. We’re already looking forward to fellowshipping and worshiping with you.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We couldn’t be serving here without all of you lifting us up! If you are not yet on our email list and want to subscribe to our monthly updates, please send us an email at rklejmentlavin@fh.org.

Many Blessings,

Ryan and Carolyn
