About This Project
Update 6/3/11
We are at 100% of our monthly support! Please continue to fulfill any monthly pledges, and we will be updating Jubilink with new one time projects as well.
The progress bar represents the YTD funded amount, and does not reflect our support raised amount of 100%.
We are Ryan and Carolyn. We met in college our freshman year and started dating during a study abroad program in Africa. From the beginning of our relationship we shared a passion for service and international development work. Early in our relationship, we realized we ‘sharpened’ each other. We encouraged each other to take all our ideas of bringing heaven to earth from an ideology to a reality. Even while we were college we admired and respected Food for the Hungry as a development organization and found that their vision and mission of holistic ministry resonated with our hearts.
After college, we taught English in South Korea. During that time our hearts really started to open up towards serving in Asia. A huge part of that heart change was because of Jubilee Church’s vision to be a hub for overseas ministries, particularly in the 10/40 window.
We are blessed to have the opportunity to serve with Food for the Hungry in Southeast Asia. Food for the Hungry began working in Southeast Asia following the tsunami, initially to provide relief assistance to children and families who survived the tragedy. In response to the long-term need for rebuilding and rehabilitation, Food for the Hungry has committed to help communities and leaders discover sustainable ways to improve their living and know and embrace the love of God.
Carolyn will be serving as a Communications Officer in charge of internal and external communications. This will include gathering and sharing stories for support raising, web page development, and establishing other communication venues such as Twitter and Facebook. She will also be in charge of Emergency Response communication, which includes gathering information from government officials, responders, and partnering with organizations during emergencies, and using various methods of communication to update prayer partners and donors. Ryan will be a Development projects/Microfinance officer involved in researching and implementing a new microfinance initiative. The object of microfinance is to enable people to increase their own livelihood and income to support their children.
He will also be involved in assisting with our current development projects, including agricultural development, education programs, livestock development, and women’s livelihood initiatives.
We are both so excited and blessed to be serving in areas we are passionate about in Asia!
Donations to this project are tax-deductible.
Project Owner
Food for the Hungry
Food for the Hungry is an international Christian relief and development organization that works in more than 26 countries around the world. The mission of Food for the Hungry is to walk with churches, leaders and families in overcoming all forms of human poverty by living in healthy relationship with God and His creation.
The vision statement of Food for the Hungry is stated as: “God called and we responded until physical and spiritual hungers ended worldwide.” This huge and staggering call from God is expressed well in Micah 6:8, a central passage that undergirds our walk with the poor. “What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
In response to His call, and compelled by the love of Christ, Food for the Hungry goes to the hard places – places darkened by poverty, war and injustice – to bring hope and help to children, families and communities in the most impoverished countries around the world.
