Hello family and friends,
How is your summer going? For me it will be extra special since I will be going on a missions trip to Cambodia with a group from my Church Jubilee. It has always been at the back of my head to be more involved in serving and finally I have been given the opportunity to do so.
We will be going to Center of Peace (COP, http://www.coporphanage.com), an orphanage in Phnom Penh where children and teens with a high risk of domestic abuse are provided a safe place. Our mission trip will consist of running a Vacation Bible School and the Youth Program as well as an Outreach Program at a rural village outside of Phnom Penh from July 31st to August 5th. For the past 2 summers, Jubilee Church has sent out a missions team to COP, we have received biographies for every child and teen that we will interact with and our goal here is to share the love of God through worship, games, arts and crafts and other activities but mostly let God do his work through our group.
To be completely honest, facts like someone from a previous year having come back with head lice (yikes!) or knowing whether I will actually be able to provide meaningful help make the process of preparation challenging. This is why I would like to ask for your support through prayer and financial aid.
Prayer Requests:
- Physical and Spiritual strength and protection
- Unity, humility, flexibility and appreciation among our Cambo Team
- For the hearts of the children at COP and locals in villages, and for our Team to be able to show the Father’s love to them
Financial aid:
- Each group member needs to raise KRW 1,800,000 of which half is raised personally and the other half is raised through support, any amounts exceeding KRW 1,800,000 will be given to COP to support their operational costs. The COP has been losing donors hence the number of children they can take has been reducing significantly.
