Prayer and Support for Indonesia Missions!!

Galatians 5:13 – “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather serve one another humbly in love.” ← Awesome Scripture God gave me as I prepared this letter.

God has been so gracious to me these last couple of years, so much that I can’t explain in words. About six years ago, I met God and became a new creation while in military school. Three years went by and in 2009 I was planning to come to Korea to stay for a year, just because I was tired of the US. As I prepared to leave Charleston my school’s Chaplain prayed over me for a “missional heart” and for this to be a new chapter of my life. At that time, I thought he was referring to some kind of “Tom Cruise: Mission Impossible” kind of situation since I didn’t know the meaning of missions fully, but God really made all of that prayer clear upon arriving to Korea.

In early 2009, I joined Jubilee, but I always ran away as soon as service was over. The amount of people and the environment was really different for me. However, I was able to hear Pastor David’s vision for Jubilee to be a hub for missions! I was so thrilled to finally know what missions meant and that there were ways to serve others, Amen! The following month, I signed up for missions and it must have been the Spirit that pushed me to sign up even though I felt unworthy, not experienced, and very, very shy. However; I participated in English Revival Camp in 2009 and in 2011. It was a huge blessing, to take the missions classes and learn what it was to serve others no matter where you are. I love North Korea because of ERC missions, but as I grow in the Lord and learn more at Jubilee, my heart is opening to every nation that needs to hear the great things Jesus has done! I am a witness to His Greatness, I who was living in sin 6 years before!

This summer, I have committed myself to love and serve others in Indonesia from August 25th- September 1st with a team of 9 other “souled out” brothers and sisters from Jubilee. We are going to serve with Jubilee sent missionaries, Ryan and Carolyn who have been serving in Indonesia with Food for the Hungry. We will be going to Medan, Sumatra to serve children and youth in different villages around the area. We will help the Child Development staff with curriculum development for younger students through: songs, drama, dance, crafts etc. Each day we will travel to different villages using a vacation bible school type teaching method for the kids. I am very, very blessed and know God can move even without us, but I am grateful to know that in love and service that God still will use us!

Our team greatly needs prayer more than anything else, for unity, strength, and a loving and serving heart. We also need a lot of prayer for spiritual protection. We are also fundraising for the trip 1.5 million won for each team member. If you feel led to support financially, that will be awesome, and greatly appreciated! But mostly, cover us with your prayers!

Finally, if you know me well, you know I am obsessed with maps and geography. So... here are a few facts about Indonesia from the CIA website:

1. Capital: Jakarta

2. Largest Muslim population in the World.

3. World's third most populous democracy and largest archipelagic state.

4. Contains the most volcanoes of any other country in the world.

Please look at the CIA website for more about their economy and current issues.

Thank you and God Bless Yall!
