Hellol! I’m going to ERC (English Revival Camp) to serve youth including North Korean refugees this summer.
Even though I’m a native Korean, I didn’t used to have any concern with a favorable eye for the matter of North Korea or the division of the Korea peninsula. As resent Korean young generation, I was almost against the unification of Korea for the predictable practical reasons such as economical crisis. Being educated in childhood, I regarded North Korea and the people there as an evil to beware. However, the more I knew God’s heart for the poor and the weak, the more my concern of North Korea was changed from the enemy to lost children of God. But still I thought that somebody, not me, would care of the nation.
Then I started studying in Torch, and God showed me His great concern for those people and His sorrow for the indifference of Korean churches to the suffering of His children there. I believe I’m called as a missionary. But God planted His desire into my heart to pray for this nation first before going to another nation for sharing the Gospel.
When I heard about ERC first from my schoolmate, I was really encouraged to meet the North Korean refugees and have a time to pray for them. Through ERC, I hope to see the picture of the unified Korea in the coming future. I’m also expecting for God’s sincere work in the youth, the future of Korea.
Also, during the prayer for ERC, God made me to remember how He had worked in my teenage faithfully. When He touched the broken and hopeless life, He brought a dream to be used for His kingdom and my life was recovered to be loved one as He created in the beginning. I believe that God remembers the name of each student coming to ERC and is waiting for them as He did to me a long ago.
I hope you too can be the witness of the changed lives in the party of God there. Please pray for ERC and support me.
Pray for the unity of all staffs and volunteers and the protection of all there.
Pray for the Holy Spirit works before all of our plans or ministry.
Pray for the kids to open their hearts to each other and accept the others.
Pray for the children to meet God personally so that they can realize who they are and how they are valuable on the eyes of God

안녕하세요? ^^ 이번 여름에 ERC (English Revival Camp)를 섬기러 간답니다.
저는 한국인이면서도 정작 북한이나 한반도의 분단 등의 문제에 있어 관심을 가지지 못했습니다. 요즘 많은 젊은 세대처럼 저도 통일 후에 다가올 경제적인 위기 등의 이유로 통일에 대해 반대하는 입장을 가지고 있었습니다. 북한에 대해서도 어렸을 때 교육받았던 것처럼 경계해야 할 대상인 악한 존재로서 생각해왔습니다. 그러나 하나님의 약하고 가난한 자들에 대한 마음을 알아 갈수록 북한에 대한 제 인식도 적에서 하나님의 잃어버린 자녀로 서서히 바뀌게 되었지만 여전히 나보다는 다른 누군가가 그 일들을 감당할 것이라고 여겼습니다.
하지만 횃불 트리니티에서 공부를 하게 되면서, 하나님은 그들을 향한 아버지의 마음과 그들에 대한 무관심한 한국 교회에 대한 슬픔을 보여 주셨습니다. 선교에 마음을 품고 다른 열방을 위해 나가겠다고 하면서도 정작 북한에 대해서는 한발짝 물러서있는 제게, 하나님은 이 민족을 먼저 품길 원하신다는 마음을 주셨습니다.
학교 친구들로부터 ERC에 대해 처음 들었을 때 탈북 청소년들을 만나고 그들을 위해 기도할 시간을 갖게 될 것에 많은 기대가 되었습니다. ^^ ERC를 통해, 하나로 통일될 한국의 미래와 하나님께서 청소년들에게 일하실 것에 대해 기대하고 있답니다.
또한 ERC를 위해 기도하는 동안, 하나님께서는 제가 중, 고등 학생이었을 때의 그 분의 일하심을 기억하게 하셨습니다. 깨어지고 소망 없던 인생이 주님께서 만지셨을 때 꿈을 갖게 되고 그 분의 영원한 사랑 안에 거하는 인생이 되는 것을 기억합니다. ^^ 하나님께서는 오래 전 제게 하셨듯, 그 곳에 찾아오는 학생들 하나하나를 모두 기억하고 기다리고 계시리라 믿습니다.
저 뿐만 아니라 이 글을 읽으시는 여러분 또한 하나님의 그 아름다운 잔치에서 변화될 그들의 증인이 되어 주시기를 소망합니다. 기도해 주시고 후원해주세요 ^^
