Hi family & friends,
This summer I'll be involved in a camp called English Unification Camp (EUC) from 25 - 29 July. In EUC, there will be interaction among North and South Korean youth, with programs run mainly in English. The camp also aims to assist North Korean youth defectors to adjust to life in South Korea, and holds on to the hope of eventual unification between the two Koreas.
Ever since I got back from Yanji last December, North Korea has been in my heart. I guess interacting with the fieldworkers, and seeing how much they were invested into North Korea left a deep impact on me.
When I heard about summer missions this year, I was actually keen on going to either Cambodia or Indonesia because I wanted to experience doing missions in these countries. Unfortunately, my schedule only allowed me to join the EUC team. While it was not originally part of my plan to join EUC, I do not think that it is by chance that I am now part of the EUC team, and I look forward to seeing how God is going to use me in this camp.
I have been assigned to be one of the group leaders, and will be overseeing about 8 to 10 members. My tasks involve leading morning Bible meditations and taking care of the welfare of my members.
I have a few prayer requests:
- Unity and safety among the EUC team and camp participants
- For the youth to be open to the message that is being shared. For healing and restoration to those who are hurting / have been hurt.
- For me to be able to build a good rapport with my group members
