Hi family and friends!
I hope that you’re doing well and your summer is off to a nice, warm start ^^
As some of you know, through my emails and through your awesome support, I was blessed with the opportunity to go to Cambodia last summer. During the mission trip, I met wonderful Khmer students at the Center of Peace orphanage, as well as a few women from a church called New Life while serving at the YWAM DTS center in Sihanoukville in the Kampong Saom province. Through an amazing time of worship and serving the villages around us, I was able to encounter our Creator’s magnificence through various relationships. I was overwhelmed with inexpressible love that was poured out upon us during the week we were there. Language was not an issue because the Holy Spirit was working in all of us, uniting us as one body. How amazing!!!
A year is now closely approaching since my first mission trip experience and my heart for Cambodia and the relationships that were established has not diminished. As some of you know the saying, “out of sight, out of mind,” can be true to some degree, however, my longing to be reunited with fellow brothers and sisters in Cambodia deepened. As the 2013 summer missions application deadline neared, I thought praying and confiding in others would bring this undeniable beam-of-light-shining-down-on-me confirmation about going again, but that was not the case; I fell into deeper confusion and doubt about this possibility the longer I “thought” and waited. However, the only thing on my heart that remained was, “Are you willing to just obey, to just jump in with faith?”
So, family and friends, here I am telling you that I am planning on going to Cambodia again this summer! I decided to go in full faith that God has great things in store for those that have committed to go! PTL! 12 members from Jubilee Church will be participating this year. We will be going to two different sites for a 2-week duration (July 22-August 3) under V2R (Vision to Reality) Ministry lead by Pastors Bob and Jenny Oh:
First week (July
22-27): In Phnom Penh:
Center of Peace Orphanage – VBS, holding English
and Korean classes, and participating in discipleship with older
youths.
New Life Church – Will participate in the annual Women’s Conference. About 900-1000 women from around the country will be gathering together to give testimonies and performances. This conference is an encouraging time to see the progression of the lives of women transformed from pain and oppression to empowerment and freedom.
Second week
(July 29-Aug 3): In Sihanoukville:
We will travel 4 hours from the main city to join the YWAM DTS
center for a young adult retreat and outreach. All teams (4 US,
Korea, and Phnom Penh) will gather here. We will participate in
VBS and mercy ministry during the day and a blowout outreach in
the midst of the Red Light District with performances, the gospel
message, and medicine ministry during the evenings.
Please partner with me in lifting up prayers
for the following, whenever you can:
- The nation of Cambodia and that the
influences of Christ will reach all levels of religion, politics,
economy, art, education, class, etc.
- The empowerment of the staff members
at the COP orphanage, New Life Church, and YWAM’s DTS center.
Pray that God anoints each of them, giving them all power and
authority in their ministry, and the boldness to declare His
Kingdom come in Cambodia.
- Team unity among all 6 teams participating.
We are of one body serving one God (1 Cor 12:14-26). May we all
be led together to do His great works for His Kingdom!
- Protection and covering. We all need to have
fitted armor to fight for God's Kingdom! The spiritual battle was
strong last year (before, during, and after) and I know that we
all need covering during this mission outreach.
In all honesty the question, “are you able to support me to be a part of this ministry?” is the most difficult question ever!! I think it’s easier for me to give than to receive; it’s always been a struggle for me. Sigh. However, the truth of the matter is, this 2-week trip will cost about 1,860,000won per person. I am trying to raise 50% of this, so if you’re willing or feel led to give, I would greatly, greatly, greatly appreciate your partnership!! ^^ If you can't at this time, please don't feel pressured! You know me...I am actually more concerned about the prayers for Cambodia and the people than anything; they are so awesome and so hungry for more of God!
